ReDiscover’s Women with Children's program provides a holistic approach to help women address substance dependence and improve their lives along with the lives of their children. The program provides substance abuse treatment to women and women with children, including pregnant and postpartum women. Services include intensive residential treatment, three levels of outpatient treatment, transportation, childcare, and comprehensive social supports. Catherine’s Place provides intensive residential living services for addicted women and their children. Women residing at Catherine’s Place participate in one of the Women with Children's treatment programs. The program reduces personal and institutional barriers to facilitate recovery and maintain healthy, mother-child relationships.
In 1991, ReDiscover was awarded a contract from the Missouri Department of Mental Health, Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse to deliver a Comprehensive Substance Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation (CSTAR) residential and outpatient services to addicted, pregnant women and their children. The program has since expanded to include women without custody of their children. It is funded by several entities including: third party reimbursements, MO Health Net (Medicaid), MO DMH General Revenue, Community Backed Anti-drug Tax (COMBAT), United Way and individual donors.
Residential and outpatient treatment for women is provided at the Kansas City location, plus outpatient services in South Kansas City. Additionally Co-Ed substance programs are provided in Lee’s Summit.
Individualized treatment plans guide the delivery of care. The treatment plans, developed by the treatment team and the client, determine the amount and type of care from an existing menu of available treatment elements (listed above). Treatment teams assume day-to-day responsibility for carrying out treatment plans including: delivery of client care; coordination and scheduling; delivery of support to children; participation in team meetings; and completion of paperwork.
